Authorities at the Provincial Maternal and Child Hospital 'Victorio Tetamanti' in Buenos Aires reported that in the last 24 hours, they attempted to remove the ventilator from Bastián Jerez, the boy who had an accident in Pinamar, but were unsuccessful. Therefore, they requested the scheduling of a tracheotomy.
On Wednesday afternoon, a scheduled attempt was made to remove the ventilator to assess if the 8-year-old patient could breathe on his own. However, 'a lack of spontaneous breathing of probable neurological origin was evident, making it necessary to resume respiratory assistance.'
The medical bulletin released by the Buenos Aires provincial Ministry of Health, accessed by the Noticias Argentinas news agency, highlights that in light of this situation, a consultation was made with the otolaryngology service to schedule a tracheotomy, with the aim of ensuring a more stable airway.
This Thursday morning, complementary studies were conducted to detect damage to the central nervous system, but the results have not been disclosed at this time.
'The patient remains under strict medical supervision with a reserved prognosis,' the authorities emphasized.
